Woofy, a little dog born on an island, becomes the beloved pet of a military family serving overseas. He slowly understands the human way of life, and realizes the value of obedience, love and loyalty. Serving and protecting his owners, deepens his connection to people, but when his family moves back to the USA, and leaves him behind, guilt and sadness overwhelm him. Through his interaction with other dogs and his new owner, he is taught many valuable lessons.

For some, freedom and happiness mean having no home at all, and for others, distance and time can never break the bond of a loving family. Despite being abandoned, he learns to forgive and trust again. Woofy has a special gift, not only can he sense illness and suffering in humans, but he can heal. When he is finally reunited with his military family, he realizes that being a member of the human pack, demands great loyalty, sacrifice and service. He becomes a school crossing guard with the ability to detect illness in the children he helps every day, and he is embraced as an emotional support animal for wounded warriors. When he becomes a father, he teaches the most important lesson of all to his young charges, a dog is indeed man’s best friend.
